Today is the day for the long-awaited unveiling of the NOW Binding from JF Pelchat. JF has promised a binding that offers a ride more like a skateboard than any other binding to date. NOW we can see how. Here’s what snowboard icon, Pat Bridges had to say.
“JF Pelchat has never been one to be constrained, which makes his foray into the binding fray so ironic, but six years ago JF had a eureka moment when he realized that snowboards should and could turn more like skateboards. The result is the best binding innovation to come from a French Canadian since Louis “LoFo” Fournier conceived the highback in 1984. The NOW IPO borrows hangers, kingpins, and bushings from skateboard trucks to achieve effortless edge engagement, improved energy transfer, and a more natural application of the highback. Upon first glance, the use of bushings at the corners of the baseplate is what most distinguishes the NOW approach. In addition to having a dampening effect, these bushings-which, like their skate counterparts, come in a variety of durometers-help absorb impact and improve a rider’s ability to pop after being loaded. Makes sense, since there aren’t many who know more about riding and being loaded than JF…” – Pat Bridges
